client comments...

I had a great time last night and am still poring over my results and reading about the different Myers-Briggs types to see what best fits me naturally.  Now I am anxious to see how this all meshes with the Strong [Interest Inventory] results."

Vocational Assessments...

Vocational assessments are designed to give insight into your predominant personality factors, motivators, and confirmation of strengths or areas for development.

Does this person have a highly independent nature?   Do they have an genuine interest in public speaking?   Assessments often provide an objective measure and a predictive validity when an individual’s assessment is compared against a normally distributed population.

Robust vocational assessments have been shown to be a valuable tool in helping people to assess whether or not they are applying for a job that is a good fit in terms of their interests, work values, and personality.   This process often leads to new career development options or the application of skills previously unexplored.

Strong Interest Inventory® Interpretive Report

The Strong Interest Inventory was developed by E. K. Strong at Stanford University in 1927.  He was a former military psychologist during World War I who wanted to help the military sort incoming soldiers into duties.

The Strong compares your pattern of responses to 317 items to the patterns of over 50,000 Americans who describe themselves as satisfied with their jobs.

The premise of the Strong is that individuals are more satisfied and productive when they work at tasks they find interesting or with people who share their interests.  An extensive number of studies over the past two decades have demonstrated the statistical validity of the Strong Interest Inventory

The Strong Interest Inventory addresses the questions:

WHAT do I want to do?

WHERE do I want to do it?

This assessment only takes 30 minutes online at any location or time. You'll receive a 21-page report packed with information followed by an interpretation session to explain and apply your results.

There are many vocational assessments on the web, what's the difference?

The Strong Interest Inventory® instrument has over 70 years of research on its construction, reliability, and validity.   This level of accuracy cannot be found in other online assessments.

Because this is a psychological instrument, the publisher ( www.cpp-db.com ) require that every administration include an interpretation session with a qualified professional.  I am qualified by the publisher to interpret your results and explain how they can be used during your current career search.

I took this assessment in the past and it didn't help me.  What do you do differently?

Many clients tell me they took the Strong Interest Inventory®  in the past and were read a list of occupation titles they would never consider.  What a waste of time!  My background in computer science and statistics allows me to correctly interpret your results and accurately explain how you can use them while making your current decisions.

Myers-Briggs® Step II Personality Type Indicator

The Myers-Briggs Step II Personality Type Indicator® (MBTI) was invented by a mother/daughter team in the 1930s in order to make the theory of psychological types by C. G. Jung useful in people’s lives.  It is the most widely used personality instrument in the world – over 2 million administrations are given each year.

The Myers-Briggs® is based on Jung’s ideas about how different ways of perceiving the world and then coming to conclusions describe different types of people.

The value of this theory is that it enables us to expect specific differences in people, and therefore, be able to cope with people and their differences more constructively.

The Myers-Briggs Step II Personality Type Indicator® addresses the questions:

WHO am I?

WHY do I want to work? (my motivation)

This assessment only takes 20 minutes online at any location or time.  You'll get a colorful 5-page report full of information,  plus an interpretation session to explain and apply your results.

I've taken one of these in the past but want to apply my old results now.

Perhaps you have taken an assessment in the past, but don't remember what the results mean, or you want to apply your results to your current circumstances.  Let me answer your questions and review the material you have in an informative coaching session that focuses on your personal development.
